Tonight’s brand new Monday Night Raw will be broadcast live from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Read on for live updates from the show, followed by a full preview of the night’s events written earlier today.

8:00 – A Battle Royal takes place to determine who will fight The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship at Battleground. R-Truth, Jack Swagger, Apollo Crews, Baron Corbin, Darren Young and more participate. The final four performers are Apollo Crews, Baron Corbin, Darren Young and Dolph Ziggler. Darren Young wins! Darren Young has been made great again!

8:23 – Shane and Stephanie McMahon discuss the fact that their father, Vince, will be returning tonight. Shane hopes that he’s coming to fire Stephanie. Seth Rollins enters and says he has exclusive Roman Reigns related footage that the whole world needs to see. He will show it on a talk show, The Rollins Report, later this evening.

8:27 – Zack Ryder confronts Rusev backstage, challenging him for the U.S. title. Suddenly Ryder is attacked by Sheamus; the two will go up against one another in a match next.

8:32 – Sheamus defeats Zack Ryder. As the match ends, Rusev enters to fight Ryder. Rusev accepts Ryder’s challenge for the United States championship.

8:41 Breezango defeats The Lucha Dragons.

8:52 – Seth Rollins enters and declares he has a scoop for everyone tonight. He says he has exclusive footage of a one-on-one interview between himself and Roman Reigns. The interview turns out to just be Seth Rollins talking to old clips of Roman Reigns taken out of context to make it appear that he’s proud of his suspension. Using this fake interview, Rollins argues that Roman should be taken out of the triple threat match at Battleground.

Dean Ambrose enters. He says he’s glad Seth Rollins is finally having some fun, but Rollins says the real joke is Ambrose’s championship reign. He calls Ambrose a coward who can’t beat him one-on-one, having to hide behind a triple threat match. Ambrose says he’s the king of the company and the backbone of this industry as the crowd goes wild. He accepts Rollins’ challenge to a one-on-one battle for the WWE championship to take place next week.

9:10 – Kevin Owens is scheduled to fight Cesaro, but he refuses to go out as long as Sami Zayn is on commentary. Referees come out to remove Zayn from the area. Kevin Owens enters just as Sami Zayn is being taken out, and the two begin brawling and have to be physically torn apart.

9:15 – Vince McMahon returns! Backstage, he says he has arrived to name the new commissioner of SmackDown.

9:20 – The match between Sami Zayn and Cesaro finally begins. Sami Zayn defeats Cesaro. After the match, Sami Zayn comes out of absolutely nowhere to beat up Kevin Owens again.

9:38 – Backstage, The Club mocks John Cena for missing the show to rehearse for the ESPYs instead.

9:43  Titus O’Neil defeats Heath Slater.

9:54 – In a pre-taped segment, The New Day visits the Wyatt Family’s compound. The two groups fight, although it’s quite difficult to make out due to the frantic editing and shaky camera. Just when they appear to have won the fight, New Day finds themselves surrounded by lights as Bray Wyatt laughs manically.

10:00 – Enzo Amore and Big Cass criticize The Club for teaming up against John Cena, saying they have no backbone. A.J. Styles says that John Cena isn’t here tonight because he doesn’t care about Enzo or Cass. He gives them a chance to walk away, but Enzo and Cass refuse, preparing for the match to begin.

10:22 – The match between Enzo & Cass and Anderson & Gallows ends in disqualification when A.J. Styles intervenes. Suddenly, John Cena enters! He comes to Enzo and Cass’ aid and helps throw The Club out of the ring. Enzo, Cass and Cena stand triumphant.

10:28 Sasha Banks defeats Dana Brooke. Charlotte challenges Sasha Banks to beat Dana Brooke again on SmackDown this week, claiming that Sasha just got lucky once.

10:52 – Shane, Stephanie and Vince McMahon enter. Vince says that he’s a bit disappointed in Shane and Stephanie; he wanted to see more competition between the two of them, figuring one would have stabbed the other in the back by now. One of them has to convince him they should be the commissioner of SmackDown. Stephanie talks about how successful the WWE has been since she has been in charge, while Shane says he will bring much-needed changes to SmackDown.

Ultimately, Vince decides to name Shane McMahon the new commissioner of SmackDown, with Stephanie McMahon being named the commissioner of Monday Night Raw. Next week, both will be naming general managers for their respective shows.

Guess who’s back? After a lengthy absence, tonight’s Raw will see the return of the man himself, Vince McMahon! Shane and Stephanie McMahon have had plenty to fight about over the past few weeks, with both wanting to run SmackDown when it goes live on July 19th. Plus, just about everyone who has ever had anything to do with SmackDown has shown up recently and declared their intentions to run it, including Corporate Kane. Tonight, a week ahead of the WWE draft, The Chairman will be making an appearance and will presumably provide some clarity about what’s going to happen to SmackDown.

Plus, The New Day will apparently be confronting The Wyatt Family at last; viewers will recall that on July 4th’s broadcast, the Wyatts challenged New Day to come to their compound, and it appears that this will be going down on the July 11th episode. Will the power of positivity prevail? We should also expect some developments in the new feud between Zack Ryder and Rusev; on last week’s SmackDown, Ryder challenged Rusev for the U.S. Championship. Is the Long Island Iced Z about to have a career turnaround ahead of the brand split? Or will he be buried yet again?

Then there’s the alliance between Enzo & Cass and John Cena; the tag team came to Cena’s aid last week to prevent him from being outmatched in yet another fight against The Club. WWE.com’s official preview says we should look for this partnership to either hit its stride or go off the rails tonight on Monday Night Raw.

On the Intercontinental Championship side of things, tonight a Battle Royal will determine the No. 1 contender to challenge The Miz. And finally, with Battleground approaching, Seth Rollins will begin to turn his attention away from Roman Reigns and onto the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Dean Ambrose.
