Russell Wilson: Injury, Status, Updates, Fantasy Value & Video

After playing his best game of the season, Russell Wilson sustained another injury in the Seahawks Week 3 matchup against the 49ers. His knee appeared to bend unnaturally on a tackle in the third quarter. Wilson exited the game for a play before returning. He eventually made his way back to the sidelines to get his knee looked at.

The Seahawks have confirmed Wilson has a sprained MCL but expect him to play on Sunday against the Jets.

Wilson could be seen putting a knee brace on his left knee during the game. According to FOX, he was ruled out for the remainder of the game despite putting on the brace. The Seahawks already had the game in hand and the decision was made to preserve their star quarterback.

Wilson sustained an ankle injury on the other leg in Week 1, but was able to recover in time to avoid missing any games. The Seahawks backup quarterback Trevone Boykin entered the game for Wilson. Boykin is an undrafted rookie quarterback out of TCU.

Boykin went on to throw his first NFL touchdown pass to Doug Baldwin. Fantasy owners should not panic about Wilson but there is reason to be concerned. Although this play happened while Wilson was scrambling, the Seattle offensive line has not provided great protection, and Wilson has already taken a lot of shots this season.

Fantasy owners would be wise to add a backup quarterback as insurance for Wilson. Prior to exiting, Wilson was 15-of-23 for 243 yards and a touchdown.
