Just days after Paige confirmed that she is not leaving the WWE, we’re now learning that her injuries may be a bit more extensive than initially thought.
Mister Saint Luarent of MLW Radio is reporting today that Paige has not yet been medically cleared to wrestle as of Friday, September 16th.
Last week, the 24-year-old professional wrestler said that despite rumors, she was not quitting World Wrestling Entertainment. In a statement posted on social media, she explained that she is excited to get back in the ring as soon as possible but noted that this would depend on her injuries.
“I certainly look forward to returning back to action at some point, once my injury is treated and on a healthy return,” she wrote.
Though it was never officially confirmed by the WWE, this injury was reported over the summer, with her mother confirming in August that Paige was injured. It was thought at the time that this was something relatively minor related to her back and shoulder, but later it became clear that she was dealing with something more serious, and there was fear that she had suffered nerve damage.
“Regarding Paige, there may be some nerve damage regarding her back and shoulder issues,” Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reported in August. “I was told her neck issue is similar to what a lot of the guys have had that had serious problems where the problem has led to weakness in the right arm which was the first stage for some major issues with a lot of the guys.”
Paige has been absent from WWE television for three months. She was suspended for a wellness policy violation for one of those months, but it sounds like she would not have been able to wrestle during those 30 days anyway.
With her suspension now up, the earliest Paige could return to television is this Monday, September 19th, and many fans were hoping the upcoming Raw could mark her return. But seeing as she has not yet been cleared, that’s now looking less and less likely.
