Ben Roethlisberger returned to action against the Dolphins in the second half after suffering a minor left knee injury. He was ineffective in the second half, as the Steelers fell to the Dolphins 30-15.

Roethlisberger played through the pain, and was diagnosed with a torn meniscus after the game. He will undergo surgery to “trim” his left meniscus, as a full repair would end his season. Landry Jones will start Week 7 against the Patriots.

Roethlisberger exited the first half of Sunday’s game against the Dolphins early, limping to the locker room midway through the second quarter. Roethlisberger walked on his own, but headed in for tests and was replaced by Jones in the lineup.

He was officially listed as questionable to return with a knee injury.

Roethlisberger battled several injuries last season, with the Steelers using both Jones and Michael Vick as backups. Vick is no longer with the team. Zach Mettenberger is the team’s third-string quarterback.

Jones attempted passes in five games last season, and the Steelers went 3-2 in those games. Expect a heavy dose of Le’Veon Bell from the Steelers.

It’s the second quarterback the Dolphins have knocked out of the game this season. Miami knocked Jimmy Garoppolo out of action with a shoulder injury in Week 2.
