Chicago's new hero has always been a hero to his high school sweetheart. On the night of October 26, Kyle Schwarber reached base five times in nine at-bat in Game 2 of the World Series against Cleveland, left fielder Ben Zobrist told USA Today,
"I can’t even describe what he’s doing right now. No one’s ever seen anything like it." By his side during his rehab from a serious knee injury he suffered while playing in Arizona's fall league was his high school sweetheart Paige Hartman.
The couple both grew up in Middletown, Ohio, a town that's almost equidistant between Cleveland and Chicago. Hartman writes on her Twitter bio that she's a "proud supporter" of the Cubs. She also refers to Schwarber as "the love of [her] life." Unlike many sports WAGs, Hartman is not terribly active on social media, her last tweet was nearly a year ago in November 2015. The two photos on that profile were both taken at Wrigley Field. One, for some reason, shows Hartman holding a leopard at the stadium. Another shows the couple at an event for the Motte Foundation.
That's a cancer charity that was set up by Colorado relief pitcher Jason Motte.
