Texas vs. Oklahoma: Point Spread, Total & Prediction

Texas takes on Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon in the Red River Shootout (or Showdown if you prefer). According to OddsShark, Oklahoma is favored by 11 points. The over-under is set at 73.5 points.

The OddsShark computer likes Oklahoma to pull out the 43.8-33.4 victory. The computer is taking Texas against the spread and the over on the point total.

After a nice start to the season with a win over Notre Dame, Texas has had a bad couple weeks. The Longhorns are coming off two straight losses on the road to Cal and Oklahoma State. Texas did win this rivalry matchup last season, and Charlie Strong is hoping his team can pull it off for the second straight year.

Oklahoma got a much needed win last week against TCU. The Sooners started off 1-2 with losses against Houston and Ohio State.

Like the OddsShark computer, the S&P+ projects Oklahoma to win, but by less than the spread. Oklahoma is 1-4 against the spread in its last five games.

Heavy likes Texas to keep this game close given it is a rivalry game, but Baker Mayfield’s playmaking ability gives the Sooners the edge late in the game.

Heavy’s Pick: Oklahoma 34 Texas 27. Texas +11. Under on the Point Total.
