A day after being released by the Seattle Seahawks, Christine Michael has been claimed by one of the few teams that could keep him on the fantasy football radar.
He’s on his way to the Green Bay Packers:
After an encouraging preseason and a solid start to the regular season, Michael descended the depth chart in Seattle due to the emergence of rookie CJ Prosise, as well as the looming return of Thomas Rawls, who was one of the best backs in the league over the second-half of last year.
But the path to touches in Green Bay doesn’t feature a lot of obstacles. Starter James Starks is an unexciting talent, while the team showed last week it still isn’t sold on Ty Montgomery (who was absent from practice Wednesday, by the way) as a true running back.
Starks is the starter right now, and the Packers are the second-most pass-heavy team in the NFL, so you certainly can’t trust Michael as a fantasy starter this week, but he’s nevertheless worth a spot on the end of your bench.
Although he can be frustrating as a runner, he’s still an explosive player with the ball in his hands, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he has a significant role by the time the fantasy playoffs come around.
At this point for fantasy owners, the bench should be used to compile RB depth, and Michael is a fine stash.
