After taking off Thanksgiving, thus leaving the day to football, the entire NBA is back in action on Friday with 15 games on the schedule. Leading things off will be the San Antonio Spurs visiting the Boston Celtics in the day’s lone afternoon game, with both teams near the top of their respective conferences. For Brad Stevens’ Celtics, they’ve managed to remain in the mix despite injuries sidelining starters Jae Crowder and Al Horford earlier this month, and they’re tied for first in the Atlantic Division with Toronto (matching 9-6 records).

As for San Antonio, Gregg Popovich’s team has a 12-3 record and trails the L.A. Clippers (14-2) in the race for the top spot in the Western Conference by a game on the loss column. Kawhi Leonard, an MVP candidate last season, is once again leading the way for San Antonio and the interior rotation of LaMarcus Aldridge, Pau Gasol and David Lee has improved throughout the course of the season to date (Dewayne Dedmon’s seen minutes as well). There’s still a long way to go this season obviously, but Friday’s matchup will give both the Spurs and Celtics good feedback when it comes to where they are in their development (and Leonard and Isaiah Thomas on the same court will be fun as well).

Also of note on the schedule is Golden State’s trip to Los Angeles to take on a Lakers team they blew out Wednesday night. The Lakers being Golden State by 20 at Staples Center in the first meeting of the season between the two teams, but they’re currently without starting point guard D’Angelo Russell and that makes a major difference. Charlotte visits New York, which means a homecoming for Bronx native Kemba Walker, and New Orleans looks to move its win streak to five straight when they visit Portland.
