Prediction

If there’s a team capable of slowing down Tom Brady’s assault on NFL secondaries, the Seahawks are certainly on the very short list of candidates, as they are fifth in the NFL in yards per play allowed (4.9) and sixth in Football Outsiders’ defensive efficiency rankings.

But this is not a good spot for Seattle.

They’re on a short week after playing a hard-fought game against the Bills on Monday night, while the Patriots are rested coming off their bye. They’re on the road, where they’re 1-2-1 this season. And they’re again without Michael Bennett, whose current two-game absence has resulted in the ‘Hawks giving up 25.0 points, 400.0 yards and 29.0 first downs per contest.

Whether or not this game remains competitive comes down to the Seahawks offense. They’ve been inconsistent for much of the season, but they looked better last week, and the Patriots are just 18th in defense, per Football Outsiders.

Ultimately, I think the Seahawks will be able to put points on the board, but scoring enough to keep up with the best offense in the NFL? That’s less likely.

Prediction: Seahawks 24, Patriots 34 (Patriots against the spread, over 49)
