Manchester United close out 2016 with a home fixture against Middlesbrough.
Mourinho and Co. have been on a tear in December, winning five straight league matches to close out the year. It hasn’t pushed them into the top four in the standings, but it has given them separation from lesser contenders like Everton and Southampton.
The key to United’s offensive production during the streak has undoubtedly been Zlatan. The 35-year old has nine goals in his last eight starts across all competitions, and he’s scored in three straight Premier League fixtures.
Aside from Wayne Rooney, United will end the year with a short injury list. Rooney and Luke Shaw will be absent for United, while Middlesbrough will be without suspended defender Antonio Barragan.
Middlesbrough have played solid defensive football to start the season, but will likely spend the spring months fighting off relegation. They’ve taken six points from their last five matches, but sit just four games above the relegation battle.
