A security guard has been fired after a video emerged showing him masturbating on the field near cheerleaders before Sunday’s San Diego Chargers game against the Oakland Raiders, TMZ reports.

The security guard, whose name has not been released, worked for Elite Security, a company contracted to provide security at Qualcomm Stadium, where the Chargers play. Elite Security told TMZ they investigated the incident and fired the employee.

The video shows the guard, in a red jacket, moving his hand in his pocket while watching cheerleaders practice before the game.

The video was first posted on Instagram by @Lov_app, which said in the caption, “San Diego Chargers Security guard was openly masturbating RIGHT IN FRONT of us during the game, while watching the cheerleaders jump up and down!!! I can’t believe this was allowed. Such a complete disregard for women’s rights and public decency! I am truly horrified at this guard lack of respect for women’s rights.”

The woman who recorded the video wrote on Facebook, “So clearly Elite Security nor the San Diego Chargers care that they have a masturbating security guard at the game.”

She said she made “several attempts to call both organizations with no concern for the Charger Girls, Charger Fans, or Kids. So yeah this happened right in front of us yesterday.”

Elite Security issued a statement about the incident, but cited privacy laws in declining to release the employee’s name:

Elite has become aware of the social media posting of inappropriate actions of an Elite staff member at Qualcomm Stadium on December 18th.

Elite would like to apologize to anyone who was offended by this isolated incident.

Additionally, Elite has opened a formal investigation into the matter and has acted swiftly in terminating the employee involved.

Elite insists on the highest moral standards from our employees.

Elite’s standard operating procedure is to employ security officers that pass a required background check through the State of California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Elite has confirmed that this guard did in fact pass all state and federal background screening processes and successfully completed all of the licensing requirements. There was nothing in the screening process that would indicate that this type of conduct was foreseeable.

Elite has been providing staffing at Qualcomm Stadium for over twenty years and has never experienced this type of incident involving any of its employees.

Elite has many loyal hard working employees and they should not be judged by the actions of this one regretful isolated incident.

Due to privacy laws, we are unable to release the name of the employee involved. Elite is cooperating with all relevant entities regarding this matter.

The Chargers also said they would be looking into the incident and issued a statement:

We are aware of the disturbing actions of an Elite security staff member at Sunday’s game. We apologize to any fans who may have witnessed the incident. Elite Security is currently investigating the incident and has vowed to take immediate and appropriate action.

The San Diego Police Department told TMZ it has been made aware of the video and has launched a criminal investigation.

Police also declined to release the guard’s name.

“Under normal circumstances if he is cited or arrested, then yes his name is public info and we release it. No arrest or cite has occurred at this point,” Police Lieutenant Scott Wahl told KFMB-TV.

The woman who recorded it, who lives in Lemon Grove, California, told KFMB she was interviewed by police as part of the investigation. She also said children were sitting near her.

Police said the security guard could face a misdemeanor charge of committing a lewd act in public.

The woman who recorded it said the security guard again tried to masturbate during halftime, KGTV reports.

She told the news station that during his second attempt, someone yelled, “Get your hands out of your pocket!”

The woman said she didn’t want to post the video online, but decided to do so after her complaints to the Chargers and the security company were ignored.
