Tonight on Monday Night Raw, Sasha Banks is once again the WWE Raw Women’s Champion, having defeated Charlotte in a match last week. Plus, Sami Zayn is in a heated rivalry with the show’s general manager, Mick Foley, Seth Rollins still holds a grudge against Chris Jericho, and Roman Reigns is just a few steps away from becoming Universal Champion. The show will be broadcast tonight in Austin, Texas beginning at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Read on for match results and spoilers, followed by a preview of the night’s events written earlier this afternoon.
8:00 – Seth Rollins enters, saying that he wants Triple H. He can’t figure out how to get to him, though, other than beating Kevin Owens and taking the WWE Universal Championship. But he can’t beat Kevin Owens while Chris Jericho is still part of the equation, so first he has to remove that piece of the puzzle.
Kevin Owens enters. Rollins asks how his friendship with Chris Jericho is going. Owens says that yes, Chris Jericho and him had a fight, but Rollins doesn’t realize that sometimes best friends fight; he doesn’t know that because he doesn’t have any friends, having stabbed his Shield brothers in the back the first chance he got. Owens adds that he’s sick of people saying he doesn’t deserve the title. The only reason Roman Reigns beat him last week is because of Seth Rollins, Owens says. He claims that because Rollins attacked Chris Jericho, he was so worried about his best friend’s well-being that he was distracted and therefore lost to Roman Reigns.
Kevin Owens also says that he got Chris Jericho several gifts, including the fact that Jericho will face Roman Reigns tonight and then Seth Rollins at Roadblock. Plus, Seth Rollins will have to face Big Show right now.
8:17 – Seth Rollins defeats Big Show by count out. After Kevin Owens keeps yelling instructions at Big Show, he gets frustrated and attacks Kevin Owens. Big Show proceeds to walk out of the ring before the match has ended, resulting in Seth Rollins’ victory.
8:31 – Jack Gallagher defeats Ariya Daivari. After the match, Gallagher goes in for a handshake, and Daivari attacks him.
8:41 – Backstage, Mick Foley tells Kevin Owens that he’ll face Sami Zayn tonight. Kevin Owens then runs into Chris Jericho, who just arrived and missed the opening segment. Jericho is clearly still mad at Owens, saying that he’s still mad even after Owens details the gifts he got him.
8:43 – Backstage, Enzo Amore and Big Cass overhear Rusev and Lana fighting. Enzo Amore approaches them and tells Rusev to calm down. Lana sticks up for Amore, saying he’s just trying to help. Rusev calls Lana pathetic, and she takes off her wedding ring and throws it on the floor. After Rusev leaves, Amore consoles Rusev. After a commercial break, the two are still talking. Lana tells Amore that Rusev needs to be taught a lesson about not taking her for granted. She invites Amore to her hotel room, something he is very excited about.
8:50 – Kevin Owens defeats Sami Zayn.
9:05 – Backstage, Roman Reigns confronts Chris Jericho in the locker room; Reigns mocks him for apparently still having car paint on his forehead, and Jericho calls Reigns a stupid idiot.
9:14 – Backstage, Sasha Banks says that Charlotte does not deserve to live in Ric Flair’s legacy. She also says she looks forward to facing Charlotte again at Roadblock, challenging her to an iron man match.
9:17 – Rich Swann defeats TJ Perkins.
9:37 – Bayley defeats Alicia Fox.
9:42 – Backstage, Enzo Amore talks to Big Cass about going to see Lana in her hotel room. Big Cass advises him against it, saying that Lana is trouble. Amore then receives a shirtless selfie from Lana on his phone. He immediately goes to get changed. Rusev arrives, asking Big Cass where Rusev is. Rusev and Big Cass argue, and Rusev says he’s about to talk to Mick Foley to arrange a match for tonight.
9:48 – Mark Henry defeats Titus O’Neil in a match that lasts about 10 seconds.
9:52 – Backstage, Enzo Amore is waiting for an Uber to take him to see Lana. He runs into Ric Flair, who has just arrived to the building. Flair allows Amore to use his limo.
9:57 – Before his match with Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho specifically tells Kevin Owens not to interfere in the match, saying he’s going to defeat Roman by himself.
10:00 – Roman Reigns defeats Chris Jericho, with the WWE United States Championship on the line. Towards the end of the match, Kevin Owens intervenes, kicking Reigns in the face and nearly handing Jericho the victory. However, Reigns kicks out of Jericho’s pin. Jericho then begins arguing with Kevin Owens, screaming that he doesn’t need him. Shortly after Owens leaves, Reigns spears Jericho and wins the match.
10:20 – Big Cass is scheduled to fight Rusev. However, Rusev doesn’t show up. Meanwhile, Enzo Amore arrives to Lana’s hotel room, where Lana greets him wearing only a robe. Amore enters, and Lana flirts with him for a bit even as Amore tries to resist. After a few minutes, Rusev emerges from the other room, and he’s ready to explode with rage. He immediately begins to beat up Amore, throwing him into a table, smashing a lamp on his head, and dragging him into the hallway.
10:37 – A match between Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson and Cesaro and Sheamus ends when Gallows and Anderson brawl with The New Day at ringside. This match was to determine who will fight The New Day for the WWE Tag Team Championship next week, but instead, that match is turned into a triple threat.
10:58 – Charlotte enters. She says that six months ago, she made the biggest mistake of her life when she insulted her father Ric in the ring. What was harder than losing the title last week was seeing her father raise Sasha Banks’ hand; it was like he was saying that Sasha is the competitor he wished Charlotte would be. All she ever wanted was her dad’s approval, Charlotte says, and no one knows what it’s like to be Ric Flair’s daughter in this business. Charlotte asks her father to come out so she can apologize.
Ric Flair enters. Charlotte says she’s sorry and hugs Ric. Suddenly, though, she slaps him in the face, screaming at him for turning his back on her. Sasha Banks runs in and starts to fight Charlotte, but Charlotte easily takes her out.
Over the past few months, the Raw Women’s Championship has been bouncing back and forth between Sasha Banks and Charlotte, with Banks traditionally winning it on Raw and Charlotte traditionally winning it at the pay-per-views. Last week, The Boss was once again able to reclaim her championship belt, defeating Charlotte by forcing her to tap out of a Banks statement. Where is the feud going from here? Is Charlotte inevitably going to win the title back at Roadblock: End of the Line in two weeks? And how will Charlotte react to her father, Ric Flair, embracing Sasha Banks on Raw?
Meanwhile, Roman Reigns recently defeated Kevin Owens, earning him the right to face Owens for the Universal Championship at Roadblock. Chris Jericho says that he’s finished helping out his former best friend, Kevin Owens, but in recent weeks, Jericho’s interference is the only way that Owens has been able to keep winning matches. Without Jericho to back him up at Roadblock, is Kevin Owens doomed? And is Roman Reigns about to hold both the United States Championship and the Universal Championship at the same time?
Speaking of Chris Jericho, after storming out of the arena last week, Jericho was confronted by Seth Rollins, who’s still angry about Jericho’s costing him a victory against Kevin Owens two weeks ago. Will Jericho retaliate in any way after being beaten up in the parking lot by The Architect? How will Jericho and Owens handle themselves in their respective feuds without one another’s help?
Finally, a rivalry between Sami Zayn and Mick Foley is now underway. Last week, Zayn was being completely dominated in a fight against Braun Strowman, and things were looking so bad that Foley called off the match. This enraged Zayn, who called Foley a hypocrite for not letting performers take risks to prove themselves like Foley used to do when he was a WWE superstar. Foley argues that he’s just keeping his employees from putting themselves in extreme danger. Which man will get his way? Will Sami Zayn attempt to take on Braun Strowman again this week?
It all goes down tonight at 8 on the USA Network.
