WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2016: The Results & Highlights You Need to Know

AJ Styles (c) vs. Dean Ambrose (Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match for the WWE World Championship)

WWE TLC 2016

Winner: And still the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, AJ Styles!

Highlights: Ambrose wasted no time in punishing AJ. He threw his body at “The Face That Runs The Place” one the bell rang and dug into his face with several punches. Ambrose then left the ring to grab a ladder, but AJ woke up in time to use a steel chair and slam it into the ladder (this ended up cracking Ambrose right in the chest). Back inside the ring, AJ tried to grab his championship but Ambrose cut him off and slammed the ladder right into his face. The match spilled back to the outside, which saw Ambrose continue tearing into the champ. Near the PPV stage, Ambrose used anything he could grab to punish AJ some more. Ambrose even placed a garbage can on AJ’s head, landed a Lariat on him and bashed his head while the moved through the crowd. AJ finally landed a big move when he cut off Ambrose’s barrier leap with a Dropkick. AJ then used his Running Clothesline to hurt the challenge some more.

Things got even more hectic outside the ring when Ambrose got the better hand once again. This moment was fleeting however as AJ backdropped him right into the timekeeper’s section. Once AJ pulled Ambrose back into the ring, AJ slammed Ambrose into a ladder then followed it up with a Sky High Knee Drop. AJ looked to do something even more painful to Ambrose, but AJ got put down after getting catapulted into a ladder. Ambrose made sure to send that same ladder flying to AJ’s face on the outside. While Ambrose set up a table, AJ ran in from behind and clobbered him with painful chair shots. AJ then used that same chair the amplify Ambrose’s pain after a Pendulum Backbreaker. AJ continued his assault of Ambrose, then left the ring to grab some more “hardware.” When he set up a stack of chairs inside the ring, he looked to suplex Ambrose onto them. This plan backfired on AJ once Ambrose flipped AJ over in the air with a suplex onto those same chairs.

Ambrose stayed on top of AJ by using a flying chair elbow drop to cause him more discomfort. Ambrose got ahold of AJ and threw him hard into the leg of a table. The crowd soon became even more alive when AJ countered Ambrose’s next maneuver and instead suplexed him into a corner table. Both men fought hard to get to their feet after this series of events. AJ used a dropkick on Ambrose, but all it did was cause Ambrose to find his footing and land a Rebound Lariat. The match continued as Ambrose looked to further incapacitate AJ with a suplex onto two tables. AJ stopped him and then attempted to land his Phenomenal Elbow, but Ambrose cut him off. Ambrose threw AJ outside the ring and crashed right into him with a middle rope plancha. Ambrose then entered into a whole ‘nother state of insanity when he set up a ladder atop an announce table. Ambrose then came off that ladder and elbow dropped AJ into another announce table.

Ambrose then climbed back into the ring and made an attempt to grab his prize. But AJ miraculously woke back up in time to drop him off the ladder with a Phenomenal Elbow. Soon after that, both men found themselves fighting on separate sides of the ladder. They both punched each other ’till they both found themselves falling back to the mat. Both men looked to land their finishers, but not one of them were successful. Ambrose threw AJ into the side of the ladder after several finisher attempts. Once both competitors ended up back on the outside, AJ used his Phenomenal DDT to slam Ambrose’s head into the floor. AJ then laid Ambrose onto a table and did the unthinkable when he crashed through him with a Springboard 450 Splash.

AJ looked to grab his title, but then James Ellsworth made a surprise appearance. This infuriated AJ and made him climb off the ladder to target Ellsworth for something more damaging. Right when AJ looked to injure Ellsworth some more, Ambrose woke up to save him and DDT AJ onto the steel steps. Somehow, AJ made his way back in to fight off Ambrose right atop the ladder. AJ found himself laid out once more and it looked like Ambrose had it won. Then suddenly, Ellsworth shoved Ambrose onto two tables set up outside the ring! AJ then grabbed his championship while Ellsworth shockingly cheered him on.
