The 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations begins Saturday, with hosts Gabon facing Guinea-Bissau in the first match of the event. Sixteen teams will look to win the event, with Ivory Coast looking to defend the title it won in 2015. Les Éléphants needed a penalty shootout to defeat Ghana in the 2015 final, winning 9-8 after the two sides played to a scoreless draw in 120 minutes.

Eight of the 16 teams that qualified for this year’s edition have won the Total Africa Cup of Nations at least once, with Egypt being the most successful with seven titles to its credit. Most book makers view Ivory Coast as the favorites to win the tournament, with Bet365 giving Les Éléphants odds of 7/2. In 22 of the 30 tournaments held the host has managed to finish fourth or better, which could bode well for Gabon. However, of the eight times in which that hasn’t been the case three have come in the last four editions of the Total Africa Cup of Nations.

Also on the board of multiple sports books is a bet for the top goalscorer of the event. Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who’s scored 20 goals in Bundesliga (16) and UEFA Champions League (four) competition for Borussia Dortmund this season, leads the way with odds of 5/1 with Ivorian forward Jonathan Kodjia (nine goals for Aston Villa) next at 9/1.

Below are some of the odds available to bettors, with the sports book that the odds are from being noted in parentheses. Full odds lists for these bets, plus others for the Total Africa Cup of Nations, can be found at OddsChecker.com.
