The Green Bay Packers have been battered and bruised during the NFL Playoffs.
Leading receiver Jordy Nelson broke his ribs against the Giants and missed the Divisional Round upset win over the Cowboys. Two other receivers — Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison — are battling ankle and hamstring injuries, respectively. Safety Morgan Burnett (quad) missed almost all of the team’s win over Dallas and cornerback Quinten Rollins (neck/concussion) has yet to play in the postseason.
All five are listed as questionable when the Packers head to the Georgia Dome to face the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.
That’s the good news.
Uh-oh, that means a bit of bad news is coming. What more can this team endure?
The bad news is a flu-like bug has swept through the Packers’ locker room just days before the conference championship.
And that bug has taken a bite into some pretty prominent players.
Among those feeling sick are Nelson, kicker Mason Crosby (who nailed the game-winning kick vs. Dallas last week) and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Yes, that Aaron Rodgers.
How sick are they? And Can Rodgers play Sunday against the Falcons?
Do you really think that’s going to keep Rodgers from the biggest game of the Packers season so far? Didn’t think so. He told reporters on Friday:
Rest, fluids, all that stuff. We’ll be OK.
Rodgers will absolutely be on the field Sunday. And you can bet Mason will be ready for his kicking duties. Nelson is a bit of a wild-card, but it has to do with his ribs, not the bug.
