Faced with 3rd & 20 on their own 32-yard line with 12 seconds remaining, the odds of Green Bay getting into position to attempt a potential game-winning field goal weren’t particularly good. But those odds don’t mean as much when you have one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers connected with tight end Jared Cook for a 35-yard pass, a play that put Green Bay in position to win the game with one final kick.
Oh god. Not this again
As accurate as Rodgers was with the pass, Cook was just as good in making sure he kept both feet inbounds while making the grab. With three seconds remaining on the clock Green Bay called on kicker Mason Crosby, who gave them a 31-28 lead by making a 56-yard field goal, to break the 31-all tie.
Crosby did just that, making a 52-yard field goal to send Green Bay to the NFC Championship Game where they’ll play Atlanta next Sunday. Crosby needed to make the kick twice, as Dallas was granted a timeout just before the snap on Green Bay’s first attempt.
