Game Preview:

The Oakland Raiders are making their first playoff appearance since 2002, and heading into Week 15 they looked like one of the AFC’s top teams. Two quarterbacks and two injuries later, and the Raiders are the NFL’s biggest postseason mystery.

Connor Cook, the 100th overall pick in last year’s draft, is set to become the first quarterback to make his first NFL start in the postseason in the Super Bowl era. Cook struggled in the regular season finale against Denver, and will face a similarly aggressive defense against Houston.

For Houston, the QB switch had been made from Brock Osweiler to Tom Savage. But Savage took a hit in the second quarter last week against the Titans, and is still in concussion protocol ahead of Saturday’s game. That means Osweiler, who was benched at home three weeks ago, will also make his first career playoff start this week.

If there’s anything positive for Osweiler, it’s that he had a decent game against Oakland when the teams met earlier this year. In a primetime meeting in Mexico City, Osweiler completed over 65 percent of his passes and the Texans led 17-13 after three quarters. Derek Carr scored two late touchdowns to steal a 27-20 win, but Carr won’t be there to make the clutch throws on Saturday.
