SmackDown Live is currently airing a new episode on the USA Network. Here’s everything that has happened so far:
9:46 – Alexa Bliss defeats Becky Lynch in a steel cage match thanks to the interference of La Luchadora. After the match, Becky Lynch pulls off La Luchadora’s mask and reveals that she is actually Mickie James.
9:39 – Bray Wyatt appears on video and says that next week, Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt will appear in a match together, and the Wyatt Family will be stronger for it.
9:25 – In a segment of King’s Court, Jerry Lawler asks Dolph Ziggler why he’s stopped being a good guy lately. Dolph Ziggler says he knew Jerry would try to tarnish his reputation tonight, and so he brought some footage of his own: Ziggler plays a clip of himself repeatedly dropping elbows on Lawler’s chest in 2012 before Lawler had a heart attack. Ziggler says that if Lawler doesn’t stop with these questions, he will finish what he started four years ago. Lawler tells Ziggler that no matter how many times he changes his attitude, he will always be a loser. Ziggler then kicks Lawler in the chest and walks off.
9:17 – Backstage, Becky Lynch says she will not run away from a fight and that tonight, everyone will find out who Becky Lynch truly is.
8:59 – Dean Ambrose defeats Randy Orton. He loses in part because of Luke Harper, and so he and Harper argue after the match ends. Once again, Bray Wyatt tries to calm them down, and he ends up punching Harper right in the face. Randy Orton seems like he’s ready to attack Luke Harper, but before that can happen, Harper leaves the arena.
8:48 – Backstage, Alexa Bliss says that she’s going to finally put an end to Becky Lynch tonight.
8:39 – Nikki Bella enters. She wants to finish things with Natalya right now. Natalya doesn’t enter, but instead she has cameras follow her around as she walks backstage and complains about there being too much Nikki Bella merchandise. Bella then runs backstage, and the two of them brawl for a bit before being separated by security.
8:20 – A match between AJ Styles and The Miz ends in disqualification when AJ Styles throws The Miz into John Cena, who is sitting in on commentary. After the match, Cena and AJ Styles brawl at ringside, with Cena delivering an attitude adjustment and standing in the ring victorious.
8:19 – Dean Ambrose approaches Shane McMahon backstage. He complains that he needs a new Intercontinental Championship title because it smells of The Miz. Shane says there’s nothing he can do. Ambrose then asks for a match with Randy Orton. Shane agrees.
8:00 – Shane McMahon enters. He announces that in four weeks, following Royal Rumble, an elimination chamber match will take place to determine the WWE World Champion.
AJ Styles enters. He is very upset that he has to defend his title in an elimination chamber match because he’s never been in an elimination chamber match before. Shane McMahon says that yes, AJ Styles will have to do that…assuming he’s still the champion by then. After all, John Cena might beat him at Royal Rumble. AJ Styles says that this will happen over his dead body. AJ also says that this is just a hot head decision on Shane’s part and he should consult the champion before doing something like this. Shane says that SmackDown is the land of opportunity, which is why they want to provide more opportunities after Royal Rumble with this elimination match. Shane also says that while AJ Styles might be phenomenal, his attitude is not.
John Cena enters. Before Cena has a chance to say anything, Styles tells Cena that he’s lucky that his brother-in-law gifted him a title match. Styles then asks why SmackDown Live is so against him, complaining that nobody respects his talents. Who’s going to insult him next, AJ asks…
The Miz enters. He says that an elimination match is perfect for him; whether he wins Royal Rumble or the elimination chamber, he will wind up where he needs to be: in the main event of WrestleMania. The Miz adds that he has been beating John Cena since before beating John Cena was cool and that he’s the most must-see superstar of all time. AJ Styles reminds The Miz that the last time they were in Memphis, he knocked his teeth out. As this is happening, John Cena walks back and forth saying things like “oh, snap!” and trying to get Miz and Styles to fight each other. Shane steps in and decides to book a match.
