Let it be known from this day forth, Eugenie Bouchard is a woman of her word. On the night of February 15, Bouchard, 22, went out on a date with John Goehrke, 20. Their impromptu romance stems from Goehrke betting Bouchard that his beloved Patriots would come back in the second half of the Super Bowl against a 21-point deficit. Tom Brady and co. obliged and Bouchard stayed true to her word. The pair attended a Brooklyn Nets game in New York showed that Bouchard was true to her promise.

1. Goehrke Called it the ‘Best Date Ever’ While Bouchard Said There ‘For Sure’ Will be a Second Date

On Bouchard’s Snapchat story, Goehrke called their rendezvous, “The best date ever.” During the story, Bouchard highlighted the Brooklyn Nets cheerleaders as the highlight of the evening.
In an interview with TMZ, Bouchard elaborated on the date saying, “It has been awesome, he’s normal. I planned the date. He picked me up at my hotel like a gentleman, then we came over here, he brought me a nice little gift and he enjoyed the game courtside. I’m lucky he’s normal.” Bouchard added that “for sure” there will be a second date.
Pictures of the two courtside while the Nets played the Milwaukee Bucks spread quickly on social media. Later, Bouchard posted a video of jewelry gift that Goehrke had given her.
2. He’s a Marketing Major at the University of Missouri

According to his Facebook page, Goehrke attended high school in Vernon Hills, about 40 miles north of Chicago. Numerous media reports identified Goehrke as a marketing major at the University of Missouri.
On his Twitter page, Goehrke’s sports fandom is evident. His profile photo shows him in a Lebron James jersey. His bio makes reference to Tiger Woods. That’s not to mention the golf references throughout his page. He was listed as being on Vernon Hills High School baseball team roster. A Chicago Tribune article about the team referred to him as a second baseman.
Although he rarely tweets himself, Goehrke appears to be a Donald Trump supporter.
At the time the date was arranged, Goehrke told Chicago’s Daily Herald that, “I haven’t talked to her or any of her people but I assume we’ll figure something out pretty soon. I’m thinking probably dinner for sure and one other cool, fun thing.” He added, “I’m enjoying it while it lasts. This is the first time I had to turn off my twitter notifications.”
3. The Date Occurred on the Same Date That Bouchard’s Swimsuit Issue Dropped

Just to emphasize Goehrke’s luck with getting a date with Bouchard, their magical night coinsided with Bouchard’s Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover release.
Having possibly learned from her Super Bowl experience, Bouchard tweeted during the Grammy’s, “Not making any bets tonight!” Following her loss of the bet to Goehrke, Bouchard wrote, “Lesson learned. Never bet against Tom Brady.” She added in a message to Goehrke, “So… Where do you live?”
4. Prior to This Bouchard Has Mainly Been Linked to NHL Players
The 44th ranked tennis player in the world has been linked to mainly NHL players since becoming a star. A month before her Goehrke date, Bouchard posted photos of a Puerto Rican vacation she took with Boston Bruins star Jordan Caron. The pair are both natives of Canada. That came after Bouchard had been eliminated from the Australian Open by eventual semifinalist Coco Vandeweghe.

Previously, Bouchard was rumored to have been dating Montreal Canadiens player Alex Galchenyuk.
5. Bouchard Is Not the First Celebrity to Date a Social Media Follower

Bouchard is by no means the first celebrity to go on a date with someone they met on social media. Famously, in 2011 actress Mila Kunis went to a Marine Corps Ball in North Carolina with serviceman Sgt Scott Moore. Moore asked Kunis out via YouTube. Kunis’ co-star, Justin Timberlake, went on a similar date with Cpl Kelsey de Santis in Virginia. Timberlake reflected on the date as “one of the most moving evenings.”
Meanwhile, on the MTV show Once Upon a Prom, two high school boys were treated to prom dates with superstar singers Taylor Swift and Rihanna.
