Bray Wyatt and John Cena will fight on SmackDown Live this evening. (WWE.com)
A new episode of SmackDown Live just wrapped up on the USA Network. Here’s what happened:
9:56 – After the triple threat match ends, Randy Orton enters. He says that because Wyatt is the master and Orton is the servant, he refuses to face him at WrestleMania, and he pledges his allegiance to him. Orton then bows down in front of Wyatt as Wyatt laughs and the show ends.
9:40 – Bray Wyatt defeats AJ Styles and John Cena in a triple threat match, retaining his WWE Championship. The match ends with Wyatt pinning Cena clean.
9:36 – As Bray Wyatt makes his way to the ring for his match against John Cena and AJ Styles, he is attacked by Luke Harper.
9:19 – During an in-ring interview, Naomi reveals that she was injured after her Elimination Chamber match. Alexa Bliss enters and mocks her, suggesting that Naomi is faking the injury because she can’t handle the pressure of being champion. She adds that she’s giving Naomi one week to recover before she comes for the title.
8:59 – Mickie James defeats Becky Lynch. At the end of the match, Mickie fakes an injury in order to get Becky to lower her guard, only to kick Becky in the face and get the pin.
8:53 – Backstage, Dolph Ziggler says that what he did to Kalisto and Apollo Crews should be a wakeup call to all of the people who think they’re going to replace him.
8:52 – Backstage, Baron Corbin says that he’s not WWE Champion because of Dean Ambrose, and now Ambrose is on his way to the hospital because of him.
8:46 – Daniel Bryan and Nikki Bella review footage of Bella and Natalya brawling backstage. Bryan tells Bella that this has to stop. Natalya enters and she and Bella start arguing. That argument eventually escalates into a fight, and Daniel Bryan calls in security to break them up. A very annoyed Bryan books a falls count anywhere match for next week.
8:42 – In the ring, James Ellsworth talks about how much he loves Carmella. Dean Ambrose’s theme then comes on, and out walks Baron Corbin, who is dragging Dean Ambrose behind him. Ambrose is able to pick himself back up and attack Corbin, and the two begin to brawl. Corbin finally throws Ambrose into some equipment, and he walks away as Ambrose lies injured.
8:35 – Backstage, Dean Ambrose runs into James Ellsworth and Carmella, telling Ellsworth he should break up with Carmella and try online dating. Daniel Bryan interrupts and ask if there’s a problem. Ambrose tells Bryan he wants Corbin, and Bryan says he can make that work.
8:34 – The Usos appear on the TitanTron, trying to threaten American Alpha. Chad Gable and Jason Jordan seem ready to fight.
8:21 – American Alpha defeats The Ascension.
8:20 – Backstage, Dean Ambrose walks around angrily looking for Baron Corbin.
8:00 – Bray Wyatt enters. He says he always knew this day would come. He tells the WWE Universe to walk by his side and he will lead them to paradise, but stand in his way and they will burn. “Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to welcome you all to the era of Wyatt,” he concludes.
John Cena enters. He takes note of the fact that the crowd is so enthusiastic in their support of Bray Wyatt, saying he has brainwashed them. He also comments on the “you deserve it” chants, saying that no one deserves anything around here; they earn it. Tonight, in his rematch, Cena is going to earn his title back, he says.
AJ Styles enters. He doesn’t understand why John Cena gets a rematch before he does. After all, he never got his rematch from Royal Rumble, and he says that Cena is cutting in line. Styles says he wants his rematch right here, right now.
Daniel Bryan enters. He says that they have a conundrum here, since both Cena and Styles are owed a rematch, and so he makes the main event a triple threat match.
