There is a $400,000 purse at stake for today’s race as well as 85 points towards the Road to the Kentucky Derby standings. First place gets 50 points, second place receives 20 points, third place takes 10 points and fourth place earns five points.
Joel Rosario is the jockey for Irish War Cry while he is trained by H. Graham Motion. According to OddsShark, the horse is fourth in the latest Kentucky Derby odds. A good performance today at Gulfstream could project him up into one of the early favorites.
Gunnevera is another horse in the running to win today’s race. The horse sits at seventh in the current Kentucky Derby odds. Javier Castellano is the jockey for Gunnevera while Antonio Sano is the trainer.
