El Areeb enters this year’s Gotham Stakes as the favorite to continue his winning streak. According to Blood Horse, the horse has won his last four races and will look for number five in New York. The post time is set for 4:50 p.m. Eastern with a $400,000 purse at stake in today’s race.

Trevor McCarthy is the horse’s jockey while Cathal Lynch is the trainer. One dark horse to knock off El Areeb is the Doug O’Neill trained So Conflated. Not only does the horse have an experienced trainer, but has one of the best riders in the business in jockey Mario Gutierrez.

A total of 85 points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby is at stake in today’s race. The winner is awarded 50 points, second place receives 20 points, third place gets 10 points and fourth place rounds out the winners with five points.
