With WrestleMania 33 just days away, there is not currently expected to be a SmackDown Tag Team Championship match.

On Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, the current SmackDown tag team champions, The Usos, were announced as participants in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, apparently confirming that there will be no championship match.

This would mean that the SmackDown Tag Team Championship will be the only WWE title not defended at WrestleMania 33. There will, on the other hand, be matches for the Universal Championship, the World Championship, the United States Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the Raw Women’s Championship, the SmackDown Women’s Championship, the Raw Tag Team Championship, and the Cruiserweight Championship.

In recent weeks, some fans have expressed disappointment with how the SmackDown Tag Team Championship has been treated. At the conclusion of March 14th’s broadcast, for instance, there was a championship match between The Usos and American Alpha. But the audience’s attention was repeatedly directed away from the match and towards footage of Shane McMahon recovering from his injuries backstage. And when The Usos triumphed over American Alpha and won the championship, the show ended not with The Usos celebrating, but with Shane McMahon announcing his intention to fight AJ Styles at WrestleMania.

Outside of The Usos, the other members of the SmackDown tag team division who will participate in WrestleMania will be Chad Gable, Fandango, Tyler Breeze, Heath Slater and Rhyno. All of these superstars will participate in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which takes place during the WrestleMania kickoff show, not during WrestleMania itself.

As usual, though, the WrestleMania card is subject to change. At WrestleMania 32, for example, the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was advertised as being a part of the kickoff, but it ended up taking place during the actual show.

WrestleMania 33’s kickoff show will begin on Sunday, April 2nd at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with the show itself starting at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
