John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 33 on Sunday.
This came at the conclusion of a mixed-tag-team match, in which Cena performed with Nikki Bella against The Miz and Maryse, another real-life couple. After the match, John Cena took the microphone and told Nikki Bella that there’s a question he’s been wanting to ask her for a long time.
Cena then dropped to one knee and presented Bella with a beautiful engagement ring.
In real life, John Cena and Nikki Bella have been dating since November 2012. This is not one of those situations in which there is a fake romance between WWE characters but not between the people portraying them; John Cena and Nikki Bella really are dating, and they really are getting married.
This proposal had been heavily telegraphed on WWE television for months in advance, with Cena engaged in a storyline in which his girlfriend is repeatedly mocked because she wants to get married while her boyfriend, John Cena, does not.
John Cena and Nikki Bella will now be appearing on The Today Show on Monday to discuss the engagement.
