At Money in the Bank tonight, Sami Zayn earned a “This is awesome!” chant from the crowd with an impressive spot near the end of the men’s ladder match.
During one key moment in the match, Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler found themselves struggling to obtain the Money in the Bank contract on the top of the ladder. Knowing he had to take Ziggler down before trying to get the contract, Sami Zayn executed a sunset powerbomb off of the top of the ladder.
The crowd in St. Louis had their energy drained a bit by Randy Orton’s loss to Jinder Mahal earlier in the evening, but this moment with Sami Zayn immediately fired them up again, and it earned one of the biggest reactions of the entire show. It also came a few minutes after another impressive Sami Zayn spot, this one involving throwing Kevin Owens into a ladder to the point that it bent and was not even usable as an actual ladder anymore.
Many fans felt that Sami Zayn delivered the standout performance of Money in the Bank this evening, although AJ Styles and Kevin Owens also dazzled as well, with Owens at one point taking a Death Valley Driver onto a ladder at the hands of AJ Styles.
Sami Zayn was perhaps the fan favorite heading into the Money in the Bank ladder match, but he was ultimately not successful. Instead, the winner of the men’s ladder match was Baron Corbin, who swept in to snag the victory after AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura struggled on the top of the ladder. It remains to be seen whom Sami Zayn will feud with going forward, but it will likely not be Baron Corbin, as a feud between Corbin and Nakamura was set up this evening when Corbin attacked Nakamura during his entrance.
