Roman Reigns and John Cena are beginning to tease a WWE feud.

This began on Twitter shortly after the Battleground pay-per-view this weekend. Roman Reigns responded to someone who said that the pay-per-view would have been better if he were on it; he said that he heard that Philadelphia was a little quiet last night.

He’s referring to the fact that Battleground was held in Philadelphia on Sunday night, and the crowd was indeed rather quiet for much of the night.

John Cena, who competed at Battleground in a match against Rusev, responded to this tweet, telling Roman not to get too far ahead of himself and to be careful what he wishes for.

Reigns then said that Cena was acting like a real tough guy on Twitter and that if Cena wants it, he should come to Raw.

Cena did not end up coming to Raw this week. But in the opening segment of the show, Roman Reigns made reference to this ongoing beef, although it was subtle enough that you’d only get it if you had been following their tweets. While listing off his accomplishments, Reigns pointed out that he won the 2015 Royal Rumble in Philadelphia, and he pointed out that it was loud that night, clearly referencing his earlier tweets and implying that the crowd was more into his match than Cena’s.

“I won the Royal Rumble, which was in Philly, and boy was it loud that night,” Reigns said.

This is not the first time that John Cena and Roman Reigns have teased a potential match on Twitter. Last month, John Cena said on his Twitter account that he wanted to prove Roman wrong when he says that this is his yard.

Although John Cena is on SmackDown Live and Roman Reigns is on Raw, they could have a match because when Cena returned on July 4th, it was said that he was a “free agent,” i.e. he could appear on both Raw and SmackDown.

Originally, it was reported that the main event of WrestleMania 34 was going to be Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. Now that Reigns is facing Lesnar at SummerSlam (in a fatal four-way along with Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe), there is some speculation that the main event of WrestleMania 34 might end up being changed to Roman Reigns vs. John Cena for the Universal Championship.
