WWE commentator Renee Young has become associated with the SmackDown Live brand, but last week, she suddenly popped up on Monday Night Raw. So what’s happening here? Was Renee Young moved to Raw? Which brand is she a part of now?
Renee Young will appear on both Raw and SmackDown Live going forward, the WWE recently announced on its website.
“No, your eyes and ears weren’t deceiving you: Longtime SmackDown LIVE interviewer Renee Young appeared on Raw this week and continued her duties on Team Blue,” WWE.com said. “And she will be a fixture on both brands for the foreseeable future, WWE.com can confirm.”
This is something that Renee Young indicated on her Instagram recently, posting a photo of herself with Charly Caruso and saying that she was “back in the (RAW) hiiiizouse!!!” However, she went on to write, “yes, I’ll still be on Smackdown.”
Renee Young coming to Raw happened not long after her SmackDown Live after show, Talking Smack, was canceled. At the time, Young expressed disappointment with the cancelation of her show, saying that she worked hard to make it great. She also indicated that she found out the show was canceled the way everyone else did: by reading the news on Twitter.
Young being given duties on Raw will be beneficial to her for a number of reasons, not the least of which is a personal one: Raw is where her real-life husband, Dean Ambrose, works. Young and Ambrose used to work together on SmackDown Live, but he was moved to the red brand in the superstar shake up. At the time, Young said that she was bummed.
After there was some speculation back in April that Young would be moved to Raw along with her husband, she said that she would just be on SmackDown going forward. She also noted that she would still be hosting Raw Talk, the aftershow that airs following Raw pay-per-views.
