WGC-Bridgestone 2017: Purse & Prize Money Breakdown

A major-esque field at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational means a major-esque purse.

The winner of this week’s event at Firestone will pocket $1.66 million of the $9.75 million purse. Not only is that a slight increase from last year’s tournament, which saw Dustin Johnson walk away with $1.62 million, but it’s not far behind the four biggest events of the season. Sergio Garcia won $1.08 million of the $10 million Masters purse, Brooks Koepka received $2.16 million of the $12 million purse at the US Open, and Jordan Spieth’s triumph at the Open Championship earned him $1.845 million of the $10.25 million purse.

In other words, with the PGA Championship on the way next week, and the Tour Playoffs right around the car, this is a highly lucrative stretch for the world’s top players. Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama have a comfortable grip atop the PGA Tour money list, but that could quickly change over the next month.
