Bilal Powell won’t get a chance to test the New England Patriots’ run defense, as he’s been ruled out prior to their matchup.
Powell wasn’t expected to produce much given his history against New England, having rushed for no more than 60 yards in eight previous meetings with the Patriots. But New England’s rush defense has been struggling in 2017, which could have created an opening.
Instead, the Jets will now rely on Josh McCown, who played wide receiver the last time he faced the Patriots, to get the job done through the air. Matt Forte will replace Powell at running back.
