WWE HIAC 2017

WWE.com

Winner: Kevin Owens!

Highlights: Owens looked to scared to enter the confines of the HIAC. This trepidation forced Shane to run full steam ahead at Owens and use a baseball dropkick on him. This forced Owens to the outside where the match officially began. Shane laid in all types of punches and unique kicks, yet Owens still fought back by shoving Shane back first into the cell. Owens took a breather by going into the structure and locking himself behind the door. But Shane didn’t let this stop him from using a pump kick on Owens to re-open the door. Owens got back into the fight by brutalizing Shane all over the cell and taunting him in front of his kids. Owens grabbed some nearby steel steps, but Shane used a few punches to stop him from using them. The match got back into the ring, which saw Owens continue torturing Shane by using his Jumping Senton splash on his prone body.

Owens then used his Cannonball Splash to squish Shane in the bottom ring corner. Owens looked to further damage Shane O’Mac by coming off the top rope with a Senton Splash, but Shane got his knees up to counter him. Owens held onto his back Shane laid into him with punches, a jumping back elbow strike and a DDT. Shane tried to follow up that series of moves with a Shooting Star Press, but Owens moved out of the way. Then Owens managed to land his top rope move attempt – a devastating Frog Splash. Owens then tried to land his finisher, but Shane countered it by locking Owens’ head into a leglock submission. Owens struggled to break the hold, but Shane kept it locked on for a good while. Both men ended up on the outside, which led to Owens powerbombing Shane onto the steel steps in order to break the submission hold. Owens finally picked up a table and planted Shane onto it. Owens looked to land on Shane with another Cannonball Splash, but Shane moved and caused Owens to crash right through the table.

While Owens crawled away in pain, Shane used a part of the broken table to smash Owens across the back. Shane then threw in a trash can to the excitement of the crowd. After setting up Owens in the corner with the trash can, Shane took flight and landed his Coast to Coast dropkick on Owens. Strangely, Owens saved himself from breaking the pin by putting a foot on the rope. Shane then set his eyes on the top of the cell and got the bright idea to do something off the top of it. When the refs refused to open the cell door, Shane picked up a pair of bolt cutters to break open the lock. Shane achieved his goal by opening the cell door and then brining Owens back to the outside. While they were brawling, Owens low blowed Shane and DDT’d him into the entrance ramp. Owens then smashed Shane’s “Family Jewels” into the door’s edge. Owens continued to punish Shane by throwing him into the cell’s outside walls and smashing the announcer’s table top onto him.

Owens placed Shane onto one of the announcer’s tables and looked to land a big move on him from atop the crowd barrier railing. But Owens chose to climb the HIAC and signal for something even bigger. But his fears seemed to stop him jumping off the top. During Owens’ moments of confusion, Shane woke up and began climbing up the tall structure. Owens met Shane at the top with continued punches, but Shane fed Owens one of his own. Both men then clobbered each other with repeated punches. Shane slipped behind Owens and slammed him down with a Russian Leg Sweep. Then he followed that up by dropping Owens with a bodyslam. Shane continued assaulting Owens on top of the cell by landing more punches and slamming Owens down with a suplex. Owens finally caught his breath and got Shane down long enough to land his Senton Splash. Owens signaled for a Powerbomb, but Shane flipped him over and caused Owens to land on his back and ankle.

Owens and Shane exchanged several punches, but Owens got the best of Shane again by landing his Pop Up Powerbomb. The crowd looked on in fear as the cell’s top portion remained intact even after that Powerbomb took place. Owens and Shane got back into a striking war even after all that chaos unfolded. Owens decided to ditch Shane by climbing down the cell, but Shane followed him. Shane cracked Owens with tons of punches that led to Owens falling down and crashing through one of the announcer’s tables. Ringside officials tended to Owens, but Shane caused them to stop by getting his hands on Owens to hand out more punishment. Shane headbutted Owens for good measure and laid him atop another announcer’s table. Shane ascended up the cell while Owens laid unconscious on the table below him. Shane then fell from the heavens to drop a match ending elbow, but Owens got saved by a mysterious figure at the last moment. That cloaked individual ended up being Sami Zayn! While the EMT’s tended to both men, Zayn forced Owens atop Shane’s broken body while the ref counted to three.

WWE HIAC 2017

Winner: And STILL the WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal!

Highlights: Jinder was caught off guard with several quick kicks from Nakamura. This forced the champ to focus on getting ahold of his foe’s arm and cutting off his strikes. Nakamura took note of that and broke the champ’s arm hold and almost locked in an armbar. Jinder’s anger caused him to fall victim to Nakamura’s taunting and continued strikes. Nakamura almost landed his finishing knee strike, but Jinder exited the ring before it could happen. Nakamura followed him, which proved to be a mistake since the champ threw him into the ring post and then into the crowd. Once the match returned to the ring, Jinder used everything in his arsenal to work on Nakamura’s back. Mahal then focused on his neck by locking in a chinlock submission. Nakamura got to his feet and then used his striking ability to knock Jinder down.

Once Nakamura got going, he used several chest kicks and more of his patented strikes to lay down the champ. Later on, Nakamura laid out Jinder’s backup on the outside and then slammed a running knee into Jinder on the ring apron. However, Nakamura’s follow-up jumping knee strike missed and caused him to get suplexed back into the ring. Jinder then dropped a knee of his own and almost landed his finisher, but the challenger wiggled out of it. Nakamura found himself on the top rope and then came down on the champ with a knee strike. Mahal’s boys stuck their head into the match again and again, but the ref eventually ejected them both. Nakamura finally landed a Kinshasa on Jinder, but Jinder broke the following pin by grabbing the bottom rope. Nakamura signaled for another one, but Jinder simply escaped it by leaving the ring. The ending soon arrived when Nakamura slammed his knee into the ring post, which led to Jinder grabbing him from behind and planting him with the Khallas.
