The Bears settled for a field goal instead, and Miller was tended to by the medical staff and brought to the locker room via cart, where his injury was further evaluated. He was transferred to a hospital via ambulance, where it was determining he dislocated his knee.

Officials reviewed the “catch” after the play and determined he was juggling the ball on his way to the ground, and it was ruled an incomplete pass. The ruling after the review perplexed many on social media.

Miller was drafted No. 180 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2009 NFL Draft. He suffered an injury during the 2012-13 preseason, and was subsequently released from the team. He was picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but never saw the field. He was released in August 2013.

The Bears signed miller to a reserve contract on December 30, 2013, but a foot injury ahead of the 2014-15 season placed him on injured reserve. Despite the injury-plagued career, the Bears stuck with the tight end, signing him to a one-year extension on February 27, 2015. He caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Jay Cutler during Week 9 against the San Diego Chargers, winning the game.

One week later, Miller caught five passes for 107 yards, including an 87-yard touchdown pass from Cutler. He signed a two-year extension with the team in March 2016.

Prior to Miller’s latest injury, he caught 20 passes for 236 yards and 2 touchdowns for the 2017-18 season.
