This is advertising done right, Microsoft. For years and years now Apple’s advertising has outclassed Microsoft’s the same way Facebook outclasses the now defunct Friendster. But it appears as if Microsoft has finally hit its stride with this 90s nostalgia-filled Internet Explorer ad.
I know, I know, as I covered last week, Internet Explorer murders people. But it might be worth it if it means more quality work like this.
This ad is basically every article your friends have shared on Facebook the past three to six years. Can you really turn down an ad that mentions Pogs, Yo-yos, Tomagatchis, Reebok Pumps, slap bracelets, troll dolls, floppy disks, The Oregon Trail and so much more? I did’t think so.
It’s rare that an advertisement is interesting enough that I want to watch it multiple times. Well done, Microsoft.
