Netflix has announced a new offering of Super HD streaming content to its U.S. users. In order to take advantage of Super HD you will need to be signed up with Cablevision or Google Fiber and have any of the following devices with existing 1080p support: Roku, Apple TV, Sony Playstation 3, Windows 8, Nintendo Wii U and smart TVs with 1080p support.
According to PCWorld, Cablevision and Google Fiber are currently the only two providers that are part of Netflix Open Connect. It is unknown if more providers will be announced in the near future. In order to stream in Super HD, you’ll need to connect your ISP to Netflix Open Connect, and have an Internet speed of 5MB/s and 7MBs. This will ensure you have the highest video quality.
