Yahoo’s new iOS app is the first we’ve seen with Summly’s technology since the iPhone app was pulled from the app store last month after being acquired for $30 million. Summly was launched in 2011, and developed by Nick D’ Aloisio who built the app in his bedroom in London.

Summly is all about summarizing news stories into small stories that fit small screens on smartphone. “Beautifully designed with smaller screens in mind, the new Yahoo is all about delivering the best of the Web–right on your phone, the company said in a blog post on Monday.

The updated app can also predict the type of stories users are interested in. Users are shown topics, at the bottom of each article. All you need to do is tap on the check mark for topics you’d want to see more of an tap on the X for topics to see less of.

The Yahoo! app for iPhone and iPod Touch is available to U.S. users.

Yahoo! also released a new weather app and a new mail app for the Ipad last week.
