Apple’s new iPhone 5S will be the world’s first 64-bit smartphone. The new Apple A7 chip will feature 2x general purpose registers and over one billion transistors. Basically, it will be two times faster than the previous A6 chip. Apple displayed charts claiming a 40x CPU performance bump and 56x faster graphics.

The A7’s sidekick is the new M7 processor, which will make its debut in the iPhone 5S. This is how Apple describes the new piece of hardware:

“M7 knows when you’re walking, running, or even driving. For example, Maps switches from driving to walking turn-by-turn navigation if, say, you park and continue on foot. Since M7 can tell when you’re in a moving vehicle, iPhone 5s won’t ask you to join Wi-Fi networks you pass by. And if your phone hasn’t moved for a while, like when you’re asleep, M7 reduces network pinging to spare your battery.”
