For weeks now, barges have been spotted floating in various bays all over the country. It was discovered that they were related to Google somehow. At first, it was believed that they were data centers then the speculation shifted to Google Glass stores. Now, the search giant has confirmed their real role. Google Barge … A floating data center? A wild party boat? A barge housing the last remaining dinosaur? Sadly, none of the above. Although it’s still early days and things may change, we’re exploring using the barge as an interactive space where people can learn about new technology.
It builds on the “reveal” from last week that these vessels were going to be invite-only product showrooms. It doesn’t completely authenticate what they will be but more news about these interactive ships should arrive within the next few days.
