When it comes to dating apps on the Google Play Store and App Store, there are plenty of apps to choose from such as POF, Match.com, Mamba, Down, Tinder and MeetMe. We’ve decided to compare two of the most popular dating apps, OkCupid and Zoosk, to see which will give you the best dating experience.

1. OkCupid vs. Zoosk: Getting Started

When you first open OkCupid’s mobile app, you will need to sign up. Once you’re all done with the sign-up process, you will then get to create your OkCupid profile. If you’re using your mobile device to fill out your profile, it will take quite some time. Whether you complete all of the fields or not, you can still browse matches nearby. Because OkCupid asks you to fill out so much information for your dating profile, it can be very time consuming, and might be better to fill out on the desktop version of OkCupid.

When I first logged into Zoosk dating app, I surprisingly found that the signup process was painless and not as time consuming as OkCupid’s sign up process. Even if you’re looking for dates nearby, the signup process in general should be fast and easy, especially since most people are browsing profiles on their mobile devices.

2. OkCupid vs. Zoosk: Interface

OkCupid’s mobile app has a very user-friendly interface. You can search by filtering certain fields like age, height, location, status, photos, last online and order by. A-list filters let you search body type and attractiveness. Advanced filtering lets you search keywords, join date, ethnicity, religion, and education. Once you select everything you’re looking for, OkCupid will pull up nearby matches. By being able to use swiping gestures, OkCupid makes it easy to find the perfect match while on the go.

Even though Zoosk commercials on TV are pretty cheesy, their dating app has an impressive user interface. By swiping to the right, you can instantly see your matches. If you find someone you’re interested in, you can easily add them, wink at them, send them a gift or send them a message. With a simple scroll you can see the person’s summary, what they’re looking for and gifts they’ve received from other members. The app also shows if they’ve verified their phone number and Facebook account.

3. OkCupid vs. Zoosk: Features

If you find someone you like on OkCupid, you can tap the star on their profile and it will let them know you’re interested. If you end up liking each other, OkCupid will send you a notification. To find out more about the person you’re interested in, just tap on ‘About’ and you can see their self-summary and what they’re looking for. If you feel it’s a match, you can simply hit ‘send a message’ on the bottom of the screen, and you’ll be chatting away instantly By navigating to the menu you can see your activity, matches, do quickmatch, see who’s checked out your profile and see your inbox.

Zoosk has a “boost” feature that can help you become more popular. According to Zoosk, every time you use the “boost” feature you will be highlighted in search results so more members can see your profile. While this is an enticing feature, it’s costly. You can add boost by purchasing coins. The app offers three different boost packages: $99.99 will get you 1,800 coins, $39.99 will get you 480 coins, and for $19.99 you will get 180 coins.

You can easily access the main menu by tapping on the top left-hand corner in the Zoosk mobile app. Here you can see who’s currently online, see the connections you’ve made, who’s viewed your profile, and check your inbox for new messages. One of Zoosk’s most popular features is Carousel, which allows you to swipe through profiles. This makes it easier for you to find what you’re looking for. If a member winks at you, you can set up a message they will receive. Ex: Thanks for the wink. Send me a message.

In order to receive message from other Zoosk members, you need to purchase one of the 3 packages: 6 months at $12.50/month, 3 months at $20.00/month and 1 month at $29.99/month. By purchasing a subscription package, you will get unlimited winks and messages, full access to SmartPicks and you can chat with all of your connections.

4. OkCupid vs. Zoosk: Privacy

OkCupid also lets you browse anonymously, so if you visit someone’s profile, you won’t appear in their “visitors list.” The downside to doing this is that you won’t be able to see who’s visited your profile. It’s up to you if you want to be anonymous or not. To browse anonymously, just go to settings panel, select ‘profile options,’ and click, “I want to browse anonymously.” You can also decide if you want your profile to be seen only by other members by checking ‘members only’ under the privacy settings.

One benefit of being with OkCupid is that they let you browse anonymously. With Zoosk, if you want to browse anonymously, the company just suggests to not include your last name or where you work in your dating profile.

5. OkCupid vs. Zoosk: Mobile Apps

OkCupid is currently supported on multiple devices. You can download OkCupid on Windows, iPhone, iPad, Android, WinPhone and other platforms.

Zoosk currently is supported on multiple devices as well. You can download Zoosk on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and other platforms.

All the features found on the mobile apps for both OkCupid and Zoosk, you can find on their desktop version.

5. OkCupid vs. Zoosk: Conclusion

Even though OkCupid tends to be one of the top dating websites, Zoosk offers a cutting-edge dating app for iPhone and Android users. All members can easily swipe through profiles, and the search feature makes it easy to find who you’re looking for, all with an appealing UI. Also important is the simplified sign-up process. This makes Zoosk the perfect dating app for those who are constantly busy and want to date and hook up while on the go.
