How to Make Your iPhone Into the Most Disgusting Halloween Costume Ever

As the sun sets on October 31, the living dead escape from their graves and go in search of their lost souls. It really is the scariest night of the year, so whether you want to join in the Monster Mash and party with the ghouls or send gruesome gremlins running for the hills it’s essential to slip into something spooktacular — but what? Surely last year’s banana costume just won’t cut the mustard?

Well, lucky enough, NASA scientist Mark Rober has done the thinking for you and teamed up with the guys at Morph Costumes to bring you a creepy collection of app-animated Halloween outfits? Featuring everything from beating hearts to moving eyes, they’re sure to make you wince and are a must-have for this year’s trick-or-treat fest or Halloween party.

It’s all about the wearable technology this year, so give your friends, relatives and neighbors the fright of their lives by donning one of these ultra-modern creations. There’s plenty to choose from, so whether it’s the Beating Heart Muscle Morphsuit that’s bound to get your blood pumping or the Beating Heart Cowboy Costume, you won’t be short of choice.

The question on everyone’s lips is: How do they work? Believe it or not, the idea is simple and works as well for Christmas sweaters as it does for Halloween ensembles. Simply download the free Morphsuits app onto any Apple or Android mobile device, place into the costume’s readymade pouch and play the video through the costume’s hole for an awesome special effect. And there’s more.

Rober states: “You can control the animations using the Apple headphones concealed in your pocket. So, people will go into a room, for example, with a shirt of a picture of a Zombie and his eyes aren’t moving … but then the eyes start frantically looking around the room. Then you stop them and everyone just thinks they’ve gone crazy.”

Then there’s the Flesh and Zipper iWounds which will add instant horror to any Halloween outfit you choose — even everyday clothes will freak people out with this gruesome prop. To get the look, simply pop the iWound over your head, wear your favorite shirt and open the buttons to reveal an app-animated beating heart. Add a bit of fake blood for even more gore and you’ll be this year’s Halloween talking point.

And the inventions just keep on coming. Rober really loves his job (which is great news for us) and even quit NASA to focus on new designs stating: “Nothing is as cool as building spaceships but there is something satisfying with getting an email from a customer that says ‘I’ve never given as many high fives as I did last night wearing your shirt’.”

Want to know more? Then check out this awesome YouTube clip and find out exactly how to do Halloween 2014 like a NASA scientist. Rober’s creations have bought wearable technology to the mass market and could even be seen on the catwalk sometime in the future.
