Is Facebook down? Why are people reporting errors and blackouts with Facebook and Facebook messenger? Users are reporting problems with Facebook around the world. Some have reported a total blackout for more than 15 minutes or more.

Users across the world are reporting issues, but it’s not known exactly what the source of the problem is. And it’s not widespread everywhere, as it’s working for us as we type this story.

According to posts on Down Detector from Facebook users, the problems are widespread and include the messenger app, functionality of the Facebook wall, or simply not being able to log in at all. Others report problems with many features of Facebook even if the site itself seems to work, such as problems with Trending news, messaging people, or changing htier profile page, or even the left sidebar missing entirely.
Some people are reporting Facebook is working again for them, but others are still having issues. We’ll update this story as we have more information.
