New iPhone 4 To Be Revealed at Apple’s WWDC 2010

iPhone 4G (iPhone HD) details

There’s been a lot of fuss about the next generation of iPhone ever since that whole lost-iPhone-4G-at-a-bar thing which led to the Apple-busting-down-the-door-of-the-Gizmodo-editor’s-apartment thing. Now we’re on the brink of the official unveiling of the iPhone 4G later today.

We know that it will be called iPhone HD and will come in two colors: black and white (although the leaked image above shows multiple colors in the bottom left hand corner…). We also know that the screen resolution will be 960×640, which is double the 3G’s resolution. It will also be 320 dpi which is the highest on the market right now.

But there are some details that we’re hoping will be officially addressed during toady’s conference (to be updated later):

Purchase Date –

A couple sites and companies have predicted that Apple will announce the phone and have it be available for purchase immediately. But a look back shows that Apple has released the 1G, 2G and 3G iPhones in June or July. That and AT&T has been favoring mid-June by not allowing employees to go on vacation and pushing up users’ eligibility dates to June 21st… so that’s probably our guy.

Will Verizon Get an iPhone? –

Probably not by the (alleged) summer release date, but rumors have been flying all over the place of a separate iPhone for Verizon by the fall but then a spokesman for Verizon admitted that they weren’t going to support an iPhone anytime soon. So it’s probably not going to happen anytime soon. We’ll have to wait and see.

Video Chat –

The iPhone 4G prototype that was found by Gizmodo had a front-facing camera. That as well as the video and group chat code almost definitely points to video chat capabilities.
