Fans of the award-winning novel Life of Pi, by Yann Martel first saw teaser clips of the film in front of 3D screenings of Prometheus, but the movie is only now getting a full length trailer.
The movie is directed by Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain) and follows the story of a young boy who’s the sole survivor of a ship sinking and left to fend for himself on a lifeboat along with a couple of surviving animals. Like any book to film adaptation, Life of Pi already has an uphill battle with critics and fans who will undoubtedly hold every aspect of the movie in comparison with the book. So far though, the trailer looks visually stunning and at this point, it looks like smooth sailing for Pi and his tiger.
The film stars Suraj Sharma, Shravanthi Sainath, and Tobey Maguire. It’s scheduled for a Thanksgiving 2012 release.
