With the passing of the legendary and beloved James Gandolfini, known for his role as Tony Soprano in The Sopranos, celebrities who worked with him as well as those who simply admired him like the rest of us took to Twitter to express their sorrow. Check out some of their tweets here:

Susan Sarandon co-starred with James Gandolfini in Romance & Cigarettes in 2005.


Gandolfini appeared in the recent comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone with Steve Carell.

Bette Midler worked with the Emmy Award-winner in Get Shorty in 2005.


Jeff Daniels played onstage with Gandalfini in God of Carnage on Broadway back in 2009.

Christina Applegate worked with the star in Surviving Christmas in 2004.


In 2011, Pat Healy was going to write HBO’s adaptation of Eating with the Enemy starring Gandolfini, but the film never saw the light of day. He was also one of the last people to see Gandalfini before his trip to Italy before he died.
