1. The Opening Number Was Very Sultry

Watch the opening number in the video above. Then check out some of these awesome photos from it as it features all the dancers from the new season!

2. Peta Murgatroyd Has a Crush on Her Partner

Brant and Peta – Cha Cha Cha – Clip by televisionpromos

This season Peta Murgatroyd is paired up with Pretty Little Liars heartthrob Brant Daugherty. Peta opens up her first conversation with Daugherty asking if he’s single and he confesses to the cameras that he thinks she’s beautiful. The two smile, flirt, and get to work. We definitely see a foreshadowing of hookup events here.

3. Judge Bruno Tonioli Wants Contestant Leah Remini to Twerk

Leah Remini’s performance got rave reviews from the judges, but judge Bruno Tonioli insists he wants more … in a good way. Next week he wants Remini to pull a Miley Cyrus and twerk for him.

4. JLo Is Front Row With Her Beau

To support her friend Leah Remini, Jennifer Lopez cheered from the front row with her boyfriend and she looked very excited to be there. At one point, Christina Milian tweeted that JLo was in the house, so of course Brooke Burke called her out. Milian then confessed that she’s a big fan of JLo’s as JLo giggled from the audience feeling flattered. Milian is paired up with Mark Ballas this season and did a great job in a contemporary routine with him.

5. Val Chmerkovskiy Learned English from Watching Saved By the Bell

Val Chmerkovskiy admits a couple things to his partner Elizabeth Berkley who played Jessie Spano of Saved by the Bell. First, he tells her that he learned a lot of English from watching the show as a child. Then, he confesses he had a crush on Tiffani Amber-Thiessen, not Berkley. He also brings that up multiple times. Oh, Val … It’s okay. Berkley had her own confession as she told cameras she actually gave up dancing after the movie Showgirls came out. If you’ve ever seen Showgirls you can understand why, but we’re happy to see Berkley back on the dance floor and so were the judges!

6. Mr. High School Musical Is All Grown Up

Corbin Bleu is known for his days on High School Musical. He sure has grown up! And, he made Karina Smirnoff shake from head to toe. This was pro Karina’s first contemporary dance ever and she came over to the judges quivering from nerves. The judges loved every second of their dance and cannot wait for next week. A score of 24 for the two of them.

The audience weren’t the only ones rooting for Corbin. Fellow contestant Christina Milian was loving Corbin Bleu tonight as well.

7. Sharon Osbourne Burst Into Tears

Jack Osbourne is a new contestant and his two famous ‘rents were rooting for him in the front row. After dealing with a multiple sclerosis diagnosis, Jack felt now was the time to do DWTS because he may not be able to in the future. Mom Sharon was so proud of her son’s amazing performance she burst into tears and cried from start to finish of his routine. It was seriously adorable.

8. Bill Nye Loves to Dance!

Bill Nye Breaks the Ice with a flask that he brings as a gift to his newbie partner. He also surprisingly loves to dance! The duo dances to the perfect song … “Weird Science.” At the end of Bill’s cute attempt at ballroom dancing, the audience chanted his name.

The judges were not as nice though … except for Carrie Ann Inaba who told Bill he’s “the heart of the show.”

9. Amber Riley from Glee Sets a New Record

Right out of the gate, Amber Riley brings an amazing performance commanding all 9’s from the judges! This was a first for premiere night! And, her Glee co-stars were there to support her!

Even Lea Michele gave Amber a shout out tonight.

10. Valerie Harper Is an Inspiration

After basically receiving a death sentence of three months to live, Harper is here almost 9 months later and she’s in fantastic condition. Though her partner Tristan was a little concerned when he heard she had terminal cancer, he had a change of heart as soon as he met Harper. Having met her myself, I can honestly say it’s hard not to fall in love with this woman. A score of 21 for the dancing duo.

And, up after Valerie Harper was Nicole Polizzi aka Snooki from the Jersey Shore. Snooki brought some humor in rehearsals, but was all moves when she hit the dance floor in a hot little pink dress. She looked gorgeous and she moved great. And, a 23 out of 30 for her!
