Apparently, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino from MTV’s Jersey Shore is still battling to stay sober. But, that’s not what’s up for discussion right now. Sorrentino actually comes out today saying that an injury from his Dancing With the Stars days is to blame for his addiction to pills.

TMZ reports that Sorrentino checked into rehab March 2012 after an addiction to opiates. His addiction worsened to the point he couldn’t even dress himself. TMZ states:

The former “Jersey Shore” star says he’s still taking medication for his injury — but undergoes counseling to keep his addiction in check.

To make matters worse, Sorrentino is actually a paid spokesman for the company (Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals) that makes his pills, but also is in a program to spread awareness about prescription pill addictions.

No wonder he’s having trouble staying sober.

The Huffington Post reports that Sorrentino currently takes medication to treat opioid addiction in addition to his counseling.

Sorrentino is quoted saying:

The roller coaster of fame and fortune is definitely a ride in itself but to get to recovery is something special. …There is hope out there and you can get help.

Best of luck on your recovery, Mike!
