Reddit user Lorcantc had the night of his life last night, along with some other buddies, when Coolio popped into his house, made him and his roommates dinner, shot a cooking show, and rapped in the above cover of “Gangsta’s Paradise,” the 1995 mega-hit.

Lorcantc explains that Artis Leon Ivey Jr. (his real name) cooked “Coolio’s Caprese Salad. Chicken á la Daaaamn, and Peach Crumble.” Asked if Coolio showed up with the food, he said “nope…We went to Tesco with Coolio” to which redditor SelectaRx responded “that’s pretty tescoolio.”

Lorcantc is the guitarist in the video and he shared some fascinating bits regarding Coolio’s insights during the evening:

Coolio was actually very vocal about not focusing difference in people’s skin colour after I made a joke about how white I am. He told me there’s no reason a white boy can’t do anything a black guy can do and I shouldn’t limit myself to stereotypes.

Coolio also had much to say regarding his relationship with Tupac:

It was fascinating. He shared a lot of thoughts about his time with Tupac, including how he spoke with him the day he died. A lot of insight in to his upbringing and life on the streets. He is pretty switched on. I not only learned how to sharpen a knife last night, but a lot of deep life lessons from Coolio. All whilst sipping from a bottle of Petron.

Lorcantc explained the reason this happened was that his roommates were VIPs at a local Coolio concert. He apparently stopped by their house after the concert, and realizing he had nothing to do the next day, decided he would make them dinner.

Coolio has certainly come along way since the 1995 hit when he said “but I don’t know what’s cookin’. They say I gotta learn, but nobody’s here to teach me.”

It seems that someone finally did. Chicken a la Daaaamn, indeed.’s Popular Social Posts
