Anna Gordy Gaye, the ex-wife of soul legend Marvin Gaye, has died at the age of 92, reports TMZ.

Here’s what you need to know:


1. Gordy Died of Natural Causes

According to TMZ, Gordy died of natural causes at her home. She was discovered there by family members at around 3 a.m.


2. She Wrote a Song on Gaye’s Most Famous Album


She married musical icon Marvin Gaye in 1964 and proved to be a huge influence on his career, most famously writing a song, “Flyin’ High (In the Friendly Sky),” on Gaye’s seminal album What’s Goin’ On.


3. Gaye Wrote One of His ‘Sweetest’ Songs About Her


Gaye’s song “Pride and Joy” was written about Gordy. Fellow soul legend, Eddie Holland, said on that song, Gaye’s voice was “one of the sweetest and prettiest voices you ever wanted to hear.”


4. They Had One Son

The couple divorced in 1977 but had one son together, Marvin Gaye III.


5. The Music Biz Was in her Blood

She was also the older sister of soul mogul Berry Gordy.
