Chicago house music artists Paul Johnson and DJ Deeon started spreading the news of Frankie Knuckles apparent death via social media. Johnson posted a message on Facebook, while DJ Deeon used Instagram as his communication.

TMZ reports: According to some reports, Knuckles (real name Francis Nicholls) died of complications stemming from Type II Diabetes.

Complex was one of the first news sources to report on the DJ’s death, but there haven’t been a lot of details released on the cause of death or who found Knuckles. Resident Advisor, however, writes that Frankie Knuckles was found dead at his home today at age 59.
