Ryan Serhant of Million Dollar Listing New York took time out of his jam-packed schedule to give us a glimpse into his life, season 3 of MDLNY, and his new girlfriend. Read on to hear all about Serhant to see why he’s a such a real estate pro and why we love watching him.
1. Serhant Dishes on the New Season of MDLNY : “It’s War.”
Before we get into it, check out this awesome video of Serhant, along with cast-mates Fredrik Eklund and Luis Ortiz of Million Dollar Listing New York, in a grown-up pillow fight.
Now let’s get into what to expect on the third season of MDLNY. Serhant says he’s bracing himself to see what makes it onto the show.
It’s an all out war. The market’s on fire, the three of us are on fire, and we’re at each other’s throats.
Yikes! Sounds like it’s going to be a good season. In all seriousness, though, while the other two cast-mates are Serhant’s competion and are shown as his enemies on the show, he actually has a high respect for each of them. He tells us that he loves that they are all different and that each one of them is talented at selling. They may be different in the way they handle clients, but they are all masters in real estate. Serhant believes that cast-mate Fredrik is a very smart guy while Luis is a major hustler. Whether these sentiments are shown at all on the show, that’s another story …
Since the show first began, it has definitely evolved and made some changes. Last season was Luis Ortiz’s first run on the show. Serhant describes the first season as trying to figure things out and doing a lot of explaining, while now the show can “focus more on the work rather than the process.”
2. Life for Serhant Is Like a Week Packed Into a Single Day
Currently, Ryan Serhant’s company has more listings than ever before, with a lot of townhouses on the market right now. Serhant tells us he actually sells more townhouses than almost any other broker in the city. He even has one going for $20 million in Chelsea if you’re in the market. As far as a typical day for Serhant, it’s hard to believe he can keep his eyes open at all. Here’s the rundown: Monday through Friday he’s up at 4:30 a.m. every day and heads to the gym for 5:00 a.m. Then, he showers and is in the office by 6:30 a.m. to prepare for the day. From 9:00 a.m. until 6 or 7:00 p.m., Serhant is in and out of appointments, dealing with floor plans, at meetings, showing spaces, and speaking with clients. After that, he usually has dinner with a client or an event to attend until he retreats to his office until 11:00 p.m. or so. Then, he’s in bed at midnight and starts it all over again.
3. There’s a Woman in Serhant’s Life
In the above trailer for season 3 of Million Dollar Listing New York, you get your first look at Ryan Serhant’s girlfriend Emilia. In season 1 and 2, Serhant was a slick and charming ladies’ man, so what will his female audience think of him being in a relationship? Single or taken, Serhant is still entertaining, clever, and good-looking, so keeping his viewers happy shouldn’t be a problem.
Nonetheless, Serhant is a little worried because he says he’s heard by several people that he’s not a good boyfriend and he’s fearful of that playing out in front of the public. He’s excited, but completely terrified. This season on the show, Serhant says he’s a lot more serious and intense, trying to balance work and his relationship. He says his usual charm is still there, but he’s all business this year.
4. He Just Opened a Beverly Hills Office
Serhant just opened up a Los Angeles office and is currently building his team out there. Serhant first got into real estate after a friend in acting told him he’d be good at it. Every now and then he gets the acting urge, but since he’s on MDLNY, he’s able to successfully fill that void. As far as some of Serhant’s acting accomplishments, he does like to think back and reminisce about the off-Broadway show “Purple Hearts” that he once produced.
5. This City Boy Is Actually a Farmer
While Ryan Serhant may seem like a slick city boy, he was actually born in Houston, Texas and he lived on a farm for a while. Serhant tells us he did a lot of work on a ranch growing up, which often surprises people.
