The Season 7 finale of The Big Bang Theory is almost here, and it’s bursting with the news of Leonard and Penny’s engagement.
In typical Sheldon fashion, he cannot handle the huge change. As far as the rest of the show’s love matches go, we will see the strengthening of one as well as the unraveling of another.
Here’s what in store on “The Status Quo Combustion.”
1. Leonard & Penny Announce Their Engagement
From the picture above, the gang seems thrilled that their dear friends are finally making it official.
However, if you look closely at Sheldon’s expression, it does not look like he shares the sentiment of his friends.
Penny also calls her mother and must clarify her situation with, “No, I’m not pregnant.”
When Leonard contacts his mom, she says she’s already heard the engagement news from Sheldon.
2. Leonard Suggests Sheldon Move Across the Hall
“Maybe she and I will take this place and you can move across the hall,” Leonard offers.
In response, Sheldon comes up with one of his funniest lines to date:
Move across the hall? Did you take a marijuana?!
Later on, Sheldon vents to Amy, and she tries her best to make him feel better.
“Leonard has the audacity to suggest that now that he and Penny are engaged, he may not want to live with me anymore!” Sheldon tells a sympathetic Amy.
“You know, this might work out for the best. You’re always complaining about what a terrible roommate Leonard is. Like how he turns up the thermostat when you’re not there,” Amy starts.
“You hate the sound of all those keys on his keychain,” she continues.
“Four keys! Who does he think he is? A warden?” Sheldon says.
3. Raj & Emily Spend the Night Together

Of course, Raj is on top of the world after he gets more intimate with Emily, and cannot stop bragging.
It’s a typical point in any new relationship where you need to figure out if you’re exclusive with each other or not, and the awkwardness of dealing with that. They’ll take a big step.
We will be seeing more of Emily. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “She will be continuing on in some form, yes. I don’t have much of a clue about season eight yet, but she will be around.”
4. Howard’s Mother Becomes a Challenge
Mrs. Wolowitz’s declining health threatens the sanity of the newlyweds. However, the loving couple will not abandon Howard’s mother in her time of need.
“Coming up, she’s going to need a little more health care than she has been needing and as a good son and daughter-in-law, that is going to fall on their shoulders to some extent,” Molaro said.
According to The Big Bang Wiki page, Penny and Stuart also take turns being Mrs. Wolowitz’s care giver.
5. Sheldon Bails
With the news of his roommate’s pending nuptials too much of a change for him to bear, Sheldon leaves the situation.
Jim Parsons told TV Line, “He gets the hell out of there and I have no idea where he’s going or what he’s planning. I won’t know until I come back and read the first episode [of Season 8].”
The actor continued to say:
It was very interesting to read it for the first time and then to play the final episode because it really gets at the crux of something that is perhaps his defining characteristic as a character on television — which is his resistance to change. If you look at it through that lens, so many of the things he does, the things he says, the places he sits, etc, have everything to do with the fact that this is the way it’s done, this is the right way to do it and this has served him fairly well as a human. They’ve got him in a situation now, the writers do, where it’s not possible to carry on without some of these changes.
When Amy suggests that he live alone or with her, he leaves in a huff.
Worried, Penny and Leonard embark on finding Sheldon, and finally locate him at the train station.
