Mad Men’s Don Draper is taken by Jennifer Westfeldt in real life.
The couple, who has been together for 17 years, says they won’t get married.
As Jon Hamm walks the red carpet tonight at the Emmy Awards, here’s what you need to know about the woman who has his heart.
1. She Never Goes More Than 2 Weeks Without Seeing Jon
Hamm told the Philippine Inquirer about how when they met, they didn’t start dating at first:
We were both involved with other people when we met, so there was no immediate explosion. It was more of a slower get-to-know-each-other situation. About a year later, we started dating.
To make their relationship work under the pressures of Hollywood, the couple has a rule that they never go two weeks without seeing one another. She told the NY Times, “We’ve done it even if we just have one afternoon together. And even if we’re in the same place, we prioritize making sure we have time and spend time. Especially now with all the demands on Jon’s time and our privacy.”
On the topic of her Mad Men boyfriend’s fame, she told the paper:
It’s disingenuous to say you don’t know that’s a possibility if you’ve got uberfame, which is what he does, but at the same time, you really don’t know what it’s going to be like. People want to see him wherever he goes. You can’t do anything about it.
2. She’s an Actress & Filmmaker
Kissing Jessica Stein was her first feature film, which she both wrote and starred in.
Released in 2001, she played Stein, one of two women fed up with the men they’re dating, who try to date each other instead.
The clip above is from 2006’s Ira and Abby, which focused on a couple with marital dysfunction who goes on to marry strangers.
3. She Wrote, Produced, & Directed ‘Friends with Kids’
The New York Times described the movie as “a symbol of what the stress of parenthood does to friendships and marriages.”
Ham and Westfeldt costarred, and, ironically, do not have children together.
The actress told the Times in 2012, “I never thought I’d be this age and not have kids. But my life has also gone in a million ways I never anticipated.”
4. She Casts Jon in All of Her Movies
The actor enjoys collaborating with his real-life love, telling Playboy, “She’s the least narcissistic, mean-spirited person I know.”
Even though they are unified in their work life, they still haven’t made it official as far as their personal life goes.
It was never a discussion. I think marriage often is an arrangement between families more than an arrangement between the two people involved. I don’t have a particularly defined example of marriage in my life. My parents got divorced when I was two and never remarried. So it doesn’t mean anything to me. I don’t mean to say that it shouldn’t mean things to other people. I’m not judging it one way or another. It’s just my experience. I don’t have that paragon of married life to look at and think, Oh yeah, that’s it! That’s what I want!
5. There’s Speculation She Had Plastic Surgery

There seems to be a strong consensus that the actress has changed her looks in recent years, including getting some work done on her face.
A reporter at celebitchy said, “Not that I ever was incredibly polite about it, but at this point, I can barely contain my dislike of Jon Hamm’s girlfriend, Jennifer Westfeldt. Jesus, how annoying is this chick? Just looking at her crazy Botoxface makes my blood pressure go up, and to hear her voice on the red carpet interviews… it’s ridiculous.”
